Liz Snedker Photography~Newborn Baby Shoot in Winchester~Baby Photographer From Lymington

I was invited to photograph Baby Finn when he was just 8 days old. I love capturing the essence of newborn babies, so tiny, sleepy and irresistibly cute and cuddly. Once you have a child you quickly realise those moments are fleeting and are gone with the blink of an eye.

For those content and sleepy shots, I find it best to photograph newborn babies at 5-10 days old. So long as they are warm and well fed they really are just so sleepy and pliable we can get them into cute poses such as this one.

However, on the day I met Finn it became apparent he was experiencing a little bit of tummy ache and understandably was very restless. These things happen and after a while his mum and I decided it was best to reschedule the photo shoot for when he was feeling better.

Upon my return Finn was 18 days old and obviously feeling much better. In fact he was so content he slept through most of the shoot and we got some lovely shots as you can see. Finn made sure he woke just so as to show off his amazing big blue eyes!

If you are interested in a Newborn Baby Portrait Shoot please get in touch during the end of your 2nd Trimester or by the beginning of your 3rd Trimester so that I can reserve a session for you around the time of your due date.

Mummy and Daddy of Finn bought a Multi Frame, 3 Large Single Frames and a Folio from their Newborn Portrait Shoot, pictured below. Finn’s daddy is a very talented architect of AR Design Studio and had very clear ideas for minimalist white frames which look absolutely gorgeous in their simplicity.

Liz Snedker Photography~A Friend’s Wedding~Wedding Photography Isle of Wight

This blog post is somewhere inbetween a professional and personal post but it was an interesting day for me so I thought I would share it with some wedding images.

It was a beautiful June weekend and some friends of mine, Mini and Jonny, were getting married in Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the same weekend as the Isle of Wight Music Festival, as such there was high demand for ferry tickets which were sold out. Luckily I had mine!

Looking forward to a lovely wedding and a relaxing stress free weekend I received a call whilst in a taxi on my way to the ferry terminal. It was Mini’s twin sister CC calmly asking me had I left home yet and could I bring my camera with me. Their photographer and dear friend could no longer make their wedding due to extreme unforseen personal circumstances.

Gulp! Gone was the idyllic thought of a lovely wedding and enjoying a drink or two with friends. It was into professional mode now, yet scared as hell for weddings are not my normal photo-territory.  The taxi did a sharp turn around, I collected my equipment and scrabbled for memory cards returning to the ferry terminal with two minutes to spare.

I arrived in time to capture the bride at home with her family and then straight on to the wedding ceremony. The rest of the day unfolded without a hitch, the groom had his RAF colleagues in full uniform complete with swords and Jonny had even managed to arrange with his pals a Red Arrows fly past during the reception much to Mini’s delight!

The cutting of the cake gave rise to the moment when I could switch off my camera and become a guest and enjoy the party in full swing and pretty damn good it was too!

I must mention my partner David who stepped in as my assistant. Fantastic at it he was too!

Liz Snedker Photography~Teenage Flicks~Lymington, New Forest

This may sound daft but I have been meaning to blog this post for some time now, however every time I go to choose the images I struggle to make a selection as there are so many lovely ones of Hetty, a teenager from Lymington in Hampshire.

So, here we are at last!

I met 16 year old Hetty in Lymington and we visited several locations including the side-walks off Lymington High Street, an industrial park, Elmers Court Hotel and finally Milford on Sea. We stopped for a coffee part way through – all the venue changes and clothes changes are thirsty work you know!

What I try to capture in my teen portrait photography are images that not only ‘mum’ will love but most importantly ones the ‘teens’ will love too. It is vital they are happy with the way they look in photographs so selecting their own clothes is a must and if possible having their picture taken without mum and dad there, even better with a few friends!

I must say most teenagers I have photographed do seem very confident and comfortable in front of the camera, certainly more so than I ever did at that age. Perhaps this stems from the instant availability of camera’s these days, in the format of mobile phones and i-pods.

Although Hetty was very comfortable in front of the camera, great fun, vibrant and lovely to chat with, I don’t think she realises just how pretty she is and I hope these images prove to her she is gorgeous.

I know Hetty has just finished her GCSE’s and I hope she realises her dream of becoming a mid-wife whilst continuing with her passion of horse-riding.

Good Luck Hetty and sorry this is so overdue!

Liz Snedker Photography~Naturally Beautiful Woman Portraits~Lymington

This portrait shoot was one of those challenges I just love to get stuck into because I am confident of capturing not only beautiful images but more than that, I know I can surprise my clients and make them feel really good about themselves.

Ruth contacted me for a ‘Simply Me’ Portrait Shoot. Reluctant doesn’t come close to describing how Ruth felt about having her picture taken, it could possibly be described as her worst nightmare. In fact, she had just returned from a holiday in Egypt and made her husband delete every single photograph of her from their holiday snaps! However, feeling guilty, Ruth decided that for her husband’s 50th birthday the best present she could give him would be a simple yet beautiful and natural portrait photograph of her.

When we met, I listened to Ruth complaining about her ‘jangly jowels, wrinkly wrinkles and chicken wing arms’ and so the list went on! I suggested we had a cup of tea and we chatted about her business, a delightful little barn called ‘Yaverland’ which she rents for self catering holidays. In Ruth’s spare time, when she is not driving her three teenage boys round the country to compete in sailing and football, she loves nothing more than being in her ‘wellies’ walking her dog Leroy and tending to Clive, Eric and Eddie the goats and her numerous chickens.

After half an hour Ruth was relaxed enough for me to start taking some photographs of her.

Simply Me Natural Beautiful Woman Portrait PhotographyThe first few shots produced some beautiful black and white portraits as you can see but when I suggested Ruth put on her ‘wellies’ her whole demeanour changed resulting in these very relaxed and confident portraits.

This is for me what Liz Snedker Photography is all about; creating natural and spontaneous portraits that are timeless, evocative and importantly images that create lasting memories.

Liz Snedker Photography~Wedding Photography~Lymington Photographers

I love getting creative and trying out new things!

Whilst in the main I like to keep my images true to life and natural for my clients, I am not averse to a bit of experimenting here and there and love to tinker with photographs in my spare time. Here are two images taken from the wedding in my last blog. The bride wore an ivory lace dress with beige trim and a gorgeous veil embellished with lace that she managed to win on e bay! Somehow, I felt her ‘look’ complemented the textured background with subdued tones of colour.

Liz Snedker~Wedding Photography~Lyndhurst in Hampshire

Yesterday I visited Lime Wood Hotel, Lyndhurst’s newest hotel, in preparation for a Family Portrait Event with Liz Snedker Photography in a few weeks time. The hotel is absolutely stunning and situated in close proximity to Boltons Bench, a major landmark in Lyndhurst which is considered the gateway to The New Forest. Cricket is still played on a pitch adjoining Bolton’s Bench, just as it has been since the first half of the 19th century, thus providing a most ‘New Forest’ of scenes – ponies, donkeys and cattle which wander the outfields whilst cricketers try to concentrate on their game!
Being in this location reminded me of a wedding I photographed in the early Autumn of last year. Now, I am not a Wedding Photographer in the main but I do occasionally attend weddings as a second photographer for Jane Trevorrow and it was whilst working with Jane I had the privilege of photographing one of the most intimate weddings I have ever been fortunate enough to witness. The wedding took place at St. Margaret’s Chapel, Bolton’s Bench in Lyndhurst and only seats about 24 people making the whole occasion so charming and personal. For those looking for a small wedding venue that is traditional yet delightfully simple and romantic I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Anyway, here are some images from the day. I am sure you will agree there are plenty of smiles all round, oh and don’t forget to find ‘Dotty’ (the bride and groom’s dog) a sort of ‘Where’s Wally’ affair on this posting!

Liz Snedker Photography~Calm and Serene at Hordle Cliff Beach~Family Photographers in Lymington

It’s another lovely day here in Lymington and I have just downloaded some music from my younger days… I am going to give away my age now… one of my most favourite songs from growing up was ‘Souvenir’ by OMD and I came across a ‘Moby’ version of the track which is so gentle and tranquil. I often play music when I am editing images as I find it gives me inspiration, lets my creativity flow and it can really hit the emotion button!

So when I was looking through recent pictures to blog with ‘Souvenir’ playing in the background I couldn’t help but connect with these images of a young girl from Compton near Winchester. Whilst photographing her I was captivated by her calm and serene nature and the way she held herself with such poise and elegance. Perhaps another Duchess of Cambridge in the making!

At last, I have got my blog up and running! It’s taken some time and I have a backlog of images I can’t wait to show you.

It’s bright and sunny here in Lymington today and on days like these I can’t help but think of the summer to come with my own children spending time with them on the beach and in the water. My thoughts leads me to this cute little chappie and although from Winchester we met on the beach at Milford-on-Sea for a child portrait shoot where we fished and played with pebbles from the beach. Sadly no fish were caught but these evocative memories were.

Liz Snedker Photography~Newborn Baby Shoot~Brockenhurst

I recently had the privilege of photographing a newborn baby just seven days old. This little one was unusually awake and alert for a baby so young and as you can see we had some beautiful moments with Dad and her doting big sister.
